1) Human Resources Director

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: The United Methodist Children’s Home is looking for a Human Resources Director to develop, manage and supervise its human relations department. The Children’s Home is a non-profit child and family service agency serving state-appointed, low-income and privately referred clients through several residential and community programs. The agency has approximately 100 employees and offers employee benefits, including a profit-sharing pension plan and medical insurance for employees. The UMCH HR Director will participate in high-level HR and agency planning in conjunction with the administrator and other senior management personnel and will also be responsible for the day-to-day management of the entire HR department, including hiring, discipline and termination of employees, maintaining HR records, counseling employees concerning benefits, and managing agency benefit processes. The HR Director will also supervise an HR staff of one or two employees.

 

Qualifications: College degree with emphasis in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or related field. Experience in monitoring and communicating personnel related operations is required.

2) Maintenance and Grounds Worker/Landscaper – full-time (four 10-hour days/week)

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: This position performs grounds-keeping and landscaping duties that may involve landscaping maintenance (operating mowers, trimmers, blowers, picking up trash, raking leaves and pruning).

 

Responsibilities: Perform landscaping duties using equipment (motorized and non-motorized) to mow grass, trim shrubs and rake leaves. Assist in cleaning sidewalks and driveways as assigned. May be required to help set up venues for scheduled agency events on campus and to assist in moving furniture, boxes, etc.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma and valid Georgia driver’s license required. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, to work as part of a team, to work out of doors in all weather conditions, and to perform strenuous manual tasks.

3) Family Integrations Counselor for Nurturing Connections Second Chance Program

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: This position will be responsible for the implementation of daily living routines of all residents within the program. The Family Integrations Counselor will also ensure that the environment is safe, therapeutic, and one that promotes goal achievement for all residents within the program.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education or related field; or high school/GED diploma and significant life experience working with children and youth in a responsible leadership role.

 

Experience in working with older adolescents and in assisting adolescents with goal achievement and self-sufficiency.

 

Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely drive an agency van. If the driver’s license was issued out of state, it must be converted to a state of Georgia license within 30 days of employment.

 

Demonstrate insurability by the agency’s automobile insurance provider.

4) Senior Family Integrations Counselor for Nurturing Connections Second Chance Program

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description:  This position will take the lead in developing and maintaining a positive environment for all staff and residents in the program. The Senior Family Integrations Counselor will also ensure that all residents are being cared for by staff in a safe and supportive environment that is conducive to positive change.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education or related field; or high school diploma and at least three years of experience in working with children and youth in a responsible leadership role.

 

Demonstrated knowledge and skills in team development and the team process.

 

Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely drive a cottage van. If the driver’s license was issued out of state, it must be converted to a state of Georgia license within 30 days of employment.

 

Demonstrate insurability by the agency’s automobile insurance provider.

5) Social Worker for Nurturing Connections Second Chance Program

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: This position is responsible for the implementation of an overall plan of treatment specific to the Second Chance population. The social worker is responsible for the case management of the residents on their caseloads and works directly with parents, guardians and DFCS caseworkers as an advocate for their clients’ needs. Works directly with state agencies by attending court hearings related to custody issues as well as behavioral challenges of the youth in Nurturing Connections Second Chance Program. Also works in coordination with the local school system as an advocate for the residents in getting their educational needs met. Maintains all documentation required by state and accreditation agencies.

 

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, education or related field; or Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in working with children and youth in a responsible leadership role.
