Current Positions:

 

1.) Maintenance and Grounds Worker/Landscaper – full-time (four 10-hour days/week)

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: This position performs grounds-keeping and landscaping duties that may involve landscaping maintenance (operating mowers, trimmers, blowers, picking up trash, raking leaves and pruning).

 

Responsibilities: Perform landscaping duties using equipment (motorized and non-motorized) to mow grass, trim shrubs and rake leaves. Assist in cleaning sidewalks and driveways as assigned. May be required to help set up venues for scheduled agency events on campus and to assist in moving furniture, boxes, etc.

 

Qualifications: High school diploma and valid Georgia driver’s license required. Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, to work as part of a team, to work out of doors in all weather conditions, and to perform strenuous manual tasks.

2.) Receptionist – part-time (20 hours/week)

 

Location: Decatur, GA

 

Description: The United Methodist Children’s Home is seeking a part-time receptionist available to work a half-day on Wednesday and full days on Thursday and Friday (approximately 20 hours per week). The receptionist is by definition the “face” of our organization and as such is first and foremost our front-line representative to the public.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Handle all incoming telephone calls through lobby console, transfer the calls properly to the correct office, or take messages as requested.
  • Be cognizant of the purpose of each department and duties of its personnel in order to direct calls correctly.
  • Greet visitors cheerfully and in a helpful manner, but assertively question any visitor or campus student who does not stop to identify him/herself and check in at reception area.
  • Ready office complex each morning by powering on lights and office equipment, setting up reception area, and completing other opening duties.
  • This is not an exhaustive list; other duties are required and will be discussed with interested persons during the interview process.

 

Qualifications:

  • Outgoing, professional demeanor and strong customer service orientation are a must.
  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED and ability to type at least 30 wpm required.
  • Customer service/hospitality/sales background preferred.
